The energy from the sun is converted into electricity through a method called the photovoltaic process. This process utilises solar cells and solar inveters.
Solar energy excites the electrons in the solar cells within a solar panel, which in turn produces direct current (or DC) electricity. DC electricity is not usable for most common purposes, so the DC power must be converted to alternating current (AC power) through a solar inverter. Once this transformation takes place, the power generated can be used to power appliances, whitegoods and other household or business requirements.
